Best brands for shutters, window boxes?

brigemmaJune 30, 2011

We recently moved into a two-story colonial-style house built mid-century. The shutters currently on the exterior are made of an inexpensive, plastic-type material. We would like to upgrade to something nicer--higher quality in terms of both materials and aesthetic appearance, and durability. Can anyone recommend a brand(s) of shutters you have been especially pleased with in this regard? What material do you recommend for shutters... Wood? High density polyurethane? Something else? We would also like to add attractive, good-quality, long-lasting window boxes (wide, for double windows) to our ground floor windows, and would appreciate your recommendations for that as well. Thank you in advance!
