replacing windows with larger vinyl windows

fivefootmenaceMay 4, 2011

My Husband and Father are going to be replacing a lot of our windows in our house this summer (about 10) because the window frames are rotting because the windows were installed improperly by the previous homeowner. The windows currently in the house are pretty small and cheap. I know replacing the windows is a fairly easy job (what my dad tells me) but I would love to have larger windows. Is it a more difficult task to replace windows with larger windows? Since my father is volunteering and is putting his own projects on hold to help us I don't want to ask too much of him.

To replace the windows with larder units the opeing would need to be reframed and if you go wider then it would need a new header as well. I don't know what type of windows you want to use for replacing the old ones but if you go larger it will involve removing more siding on the exterior an sheetrock on the interior
