Cause of Holes in Porch Screens

janewagnerMay 21, 2010

Have 5 sliding doors w/ screens on our porch; the screens start 'fraying' at random small spots which develop into rips and tears-- what can cause this -- spiders? insects? these occur well above ground level and no animals (rabbits, squirrels) are suspect, we have no pets either. We do not open the screens, merely slide the doors open/shut. Live in NJ.

Are the screens fiberglass or aluminum? If they are fiberglass, I'd re-screen them using aluminum.
