ordering sliding glass door

PekeApril 2, 2014

I will be ordering a sliding glass door, but I have some questions. This will be replacing a picture window.

What is xo vs ox? I assume it is a left or right thing.

What is nailing fin vs flush fin? It is an option.

Our picture window goes almost all the way to the floor. I think there are maybe three inches from the window to the floor. When I measure, do I measure flush to the floor? Does the track sit a little above the floor or is it sunken and level with the floor?

Thanks, peke

XO or OX is the operating panel indication.

X = Exit or operable panel.

Nailing flange is for a full, new construction, option.

Last one depends on the sub floor and framing set up but most tracks sit above the floor.

As WOW said, X is the operating panel and call it out from the exterior.
I would think in replacing a window with a door, you should go with the nail on not the flush fin for a better installation.

Check with the manufacturer. Some are inside out but the majority are outside in.
