Sliding Deck Doors Marine Environment

jeterwayMarch 7, 2012

Our Andersen sliders of 12 years are delaminating. We plan to replace 3 sets each eight foot wide. The house is on the water facing north/northeast South Jersey coast. I am disappointed the Andersens did not last longer. What other sliding deck doors can anyone suggest that are built of better material. Perhaps vinyl or fiberglass? Any experience with them in similar environment? Thanks for all replies.

I would try and use Infinity or Integrity by Marvin in your area.

Fiberglass is a great option.

I would throw Inline's name into the fray too.

I agree with the use of fiberglass; however, I would only use a manufacturer that offers a lifetime non- prorated warranty such as Inline that windowsonwashington mentioned.

Thank you all for the information. I searched for a US website for the Inline product but couldn't find any. Can you please give me a link? Any opinions on Simonton ProFinish vinyl sliders?

For Simonton I would go for the 5500 series patio door with coastal hardware.
PGT who is a Florida based manufacturer has a very good quality sliding vinyl patio door. I have not seen manufacturer with more operating configuration for a vinyl door. They specialize in coastal applications. They offer impact rated vinyl doors as well
