Insulation and Back Damn for windows?

xrayvisionMarch 4, 2010

So had my windows installed (Integrity all ultrex). GC going to spray that expanding insulation foam into the crevices around the window except the bottom to allow any potential water out. Any particular brand or anything else I should do instead?

What do I place at the bottom now to prevent water from coming back into house? Is it ok to caulk the window from the inside of the house but leaving the outside part at the bottom of the window uncaulked. Was thinking of placing a wooden sill at the bottom, what do I do to prevent that wood just acting like a potential water sponge.

Thanks

Here is a good video that talks about a specific water management system but he discusses the idea of back damning the window.
