sealing soldered art

jksncsuJune 29, 2009

Hi! I am new to this forum and it looks great! Lots of good information, but I couldn't find the answer to my question. I am making jewelry (soldered) and was wondering what type of "sealer" you can paint onto the solder to help keep it from tarnishing? Is there such a thing? I use the lead-free type solder. Thanks in advance for any advice!

I just use a car wax on mine, but I haven't done jewelery yet. Good question, I hope you find out!

It has to be a silicone based car wax.

My stained glass teacher gave me the impression that the solder will always tarnish unless you patina it. I have always wanted to patina my work anyway, so I don't have any unpatinad pieces to look at to see if they have tarnished
