3, 962 .5 boxes later...
holy moly!! ssshhh! keep it quiet. I'm hiding out in my bedroom under the blanket. well, mostly - I uncovered my head and arms so I could see and type.
WHAT A MESS! last Saturday I went with Jed to storage and he brought out a load of boxes. I brought some in my car. They're everywhere. Yesterday he made 2 trips there. I went for the 2nd trip. The 2nd trip was for a few pieces of furniture, some large mirrors (like my trifold) and to clean it out totally.
I couldn't continue to pay for storage AND pay Jed, so storage had to go. I sure didn't want to bring all those dirty boxes into here, but I did. There's still a trailer load outside waiting for space in here. Even a few things standing around on the dirt. I sure hope it doesn't rain before Wed. Jed will be back then to bring the rest inside. After I've been able to move things away from doorways (unpack a lot I guess) and make space for the 'desert dwellers' to come inside.
By the time we got back here yesterday I could hardly walk. After he left I fed the pup (and me) and went to bed for the night. Not necessarily to sleep (watched tv) but to allow my body to recover!
No big moves on my part yet to unpack anything yet today! I was able to move some body parts by about noon and went over to feed my sister's dog, give her meds and a cookie plus spend a bit of time with her (not much tho). I'll go over again later to check on her, put out more food and give her more hugs and kisses.
Prior to yesterday (going thru boxes from last wk) I got some china unpacked and put away (on a lower kitchen shelf for now) and I found 2 dictionaries! I haven't had one for yrs and yrs and forgot I even owned one - was thinking that I should buy one (in large print). Now I have at least 2!! awesome. I also found a bunch of paperbacks (I plan to send home with Jed for his gf if she wants them). Plus some decorating books (after I do a quick flip thru them), my old big roasting pan (held about a 14lb tur1key) - I won't be using that any more (other than to plant in if Jed doesn't want it). A lot might go his way... I sent home a rather good sized Santa Micky for their little girl yesterday.
So, ya'll come help me unpack these mounds and mounds of boxes! Don't let it bother you that there really isn't anywhere to put whatever is in all of these boxes yet. Still no furniture here like dressers, bookcases, tables (ok, 1 bkcase is in my car - in pieces - it's one of those barrister bookcases that comes apart). I'm hoping I can get it out piece by piece and put up so at least I can put some of my books on it.
I'm going to put in a few temporary shelves this next wk to put things on for now. After Wed Jed won't be back til the Sat before Christmas to move any more cabs from my old place to here or put up more shelves for me.
I'll be ON MY OWN - and I'm SCARED. I could be lost in a box maze for a very long time!!
one good thing - Jed told me our little local town now has a recycle center where I can take all of these old boxes - once they are emptied out.
