hi,i was given a round metal patio table that is very old.the legs on it are fine, but the top is rusted and in some places there are holes in it.do you have any ideas on either saving and fixing the top,or if it's hopeless what else i can do to keep and use the table?thank you for any help.

There are products that stop rust called rust converters. I have used them, they turn the rust into primer and then you can paint. I think if you sand a bit and knock any really weak part out around the holes you could then use a rust converter then paint. Use a rustoleum type rust preventing paint and make sure you treat top and bottom. I don't know how big the holes are or if they would prevent you from using the table.
Good luck and let us know what you do.
