I started a recipe thread over on the 'Conversation' side. I started it off with a couple scone recipes. Everyone knows food tastes better in a small house!
Bless your heart, Jay, I have no scone recipes. Something cooking always is better than a potpourri.
Jay, I just discovered THE greatest apple pie recipe in the world! It started from an excellent recipe already, I just tweaked it till I thought it was perfect...you will NOT regret trying this pie :)
ready-made crusts, top and bottom (or pastry recipe)
1/3 cup unsalted butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
6 Apples - peeled, cored and sliced
2 tbs apple cider vinegar
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add water, white sugar and brown sugar, and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer. Keep stirring so it doesn't seize up.
Mix sliced apples with vinegar and cinnamon. Place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apples, mounded slightly. Cover with a lattice work of crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly so that it does not run off.
Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Continue baking for 25 to 30 minutes, just before apples are soft.
eat hot! yummy yum :)
