a good ending, needing advise

27 years ago my father met a wonderful woman who eventually became my step mother. Over the years we had our ups and downs. But what family doesn't? Valentines day she passed away after a year long struggle with cancer. Wednesday is her funeral, and I want to express how much of a influnece she made in my life. How much she taught me and how I know she didn't have to be my mother but she did. If someone could please help me put my words and thoughts into a speech or eulogy it would be greatly appreciated. I have never been good with words. But this woman who was my step mother truly made a diffence in my life,

Melzer,

Sorry for your loss. I think you started your eulogy in your post. Why don't you say something like this:

*27 years ago my father met a wonderful woman who eventually became my step mother. Over the years we had our ups and downs. But what family doesn't? I know she didn't have to be my mother but she did. She taught me much. this woman who was my step mother truly made a difference in my life.*

Those were your words from the above post. You have a good foundation for what you want to say. I think you can probably fill-in "the in between the sentences" with certain events in your life with her: funny things; something that she taught you; something that she did for you that made you feel special; how happy she made your father. I'm sure that you must have had some very special times with her and it's those moment that you can pepper into your eulogy. You may also want to speak of her qualities, her sense of humor...Hey, you can even preface what you have to say with, *I have never been good with words.*

Just write from your heart and the words will pour out of you. All you will need to do after that is a little editing. Sorry again for your loss.

So very sorry for your loss....Not many people can step in and fill such important shoes and do it so well.

I think Gerina is right...you are off to an excellent start.

Many biological mother's fall short of accomplishing what your step mother has with her life. God knew that you needed someone and he hand picked her just for you. What a blessing. I can tell that she did a wonderful job. How fitting that a woman that brought such love into your life would have hers end on the day that we celebrate the love relationships that we all share.

A big HUG to you my dear. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

My condolences.

I too lost my stepmom last October and delivered the eulogy at her service. I agree with Gerina, you have already begun to say how you feel with your post here. Now, you need to reach for everything you want to or need to say, and only YOU can come up with your feelings.

I will also add that when I wrote mine, it took several days and was emotionally draining. In the end, it said everything I wanted to but as I sat at her service, after delivering the eulogy, my uncle got up to speak. While my words were more about how she impacted my life and what she meant to me, he had a few stories of funny things she had done that demonstrated the kind of person she was and I had forgotten to include that. So, I would suggest remembering the things she did as well as how loved she is.

I'm sorry for your loss.
