In laws needing to downsize
My in laws are looking to downsize from a very large, historic home into something smaller and they are not sure wether they want to hire an architect or work off stock plans. They are collectors (in their mid to let 70s) and have accumulated antiques, etc. over the years, which currently fill their 14,000sf home (yes, I know it's HUGE, but its been in the family a very long time). Anyway, they want a home, mostly on 1 level, with multiple family spaces, a large dining room, 2 masters on main, and very large storage closets (maybe a fully outfitted attic.). My mother in law would like large outside porches. And not have to access things on a second level often, though she will want at least a bedroom or 2 upstairs. The style they like is a low country cottage with some brick or stone. Any suggestions on architects or stock plans that might be of interest to them?
