Keeping Soaps Fresh during Outdoor Craft Fairs

shar40May 27, 2010

Hi there,

I have been doing on indoor shows but would like to start doing some outdoor craft fairs as well. I do have a canopy to protect from rain and sun, but, I'm worried about humidity.Has anyone run into problems with their soaps? Is there any other precautions I should be looking at or is outdoor sales not a great idea?

Thanks so much for any info.

I do both MP and CP soap and they are double packaged for freshness. (except for the sniffers)

Thanks again

If your soap is double packaged, then I would think you wouldn't have a problem at an outside fair.
We have them all of the time at the out door crafts shows; they come in block form and you can buy by the slice, cigar band soap, and packaged the way you described.
In the southern states, in extreme heat, some have problems with the humidity and sometimes the soap may collect glycerin drops; but I do not live there so I have no experience, it's just what I have read.
The drops will re-absorb out of the humidity though.

Yes, you definitely want to keep your soaps dry. If the double-packaging that you're talking about is with plastic then your soaps should be fine. I don't know if heat would be a factor if you have hot days though? Could the soap melt somewhat in extreme heat?
