sears opener - green light flashes 5

cciaffoneDecember 16, 2008

Is my 1997 Sears garage door opener trying to tell

me something?? The green SRT light flashes a

sequence of 5, then stops, then 5 again, etc.

Nothing is being pressed at the time.

Door opens and closes fine from remotes and

wall buttons. But the relay for the

garage door opener lights appears stuck in the

ON position so I removed the bulbs.

thanks

That is the code for "RPM sensor or motor overload" but as long as you are having no problems with the operation I would ignore it. The stuck relay has nothing to do with the flashing of the light flashing.

Hey Don, now that I asked about that problem, the
blankety-blank trolley is jammed up against the
stop bolt (AGAIN!!) and does not want to close.

This happens seldom enuff that I have forgotten
the repair. Please tell me how to get the
trolley to stop a few inches from the bolt
on the way up.

On the side of the motor unit you will find the 'up limit'. Turn it 2 or 3 turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover.

OK, reset the up limit screw about 6 turns and it
no longer jams the trolley against the stop bolt.

BUT .... WHY IZZIT that every now and again I should
need to do this. What changes such that the trolley
jams against the bolt when nothing else has been
changed???

Better yet -- WHAT NEW GARAGE DOOR OPENER SHOULD I BUY??
