Vermin access through walls from basement?

blondelleDecember 20, 2013

We had a flooded basement after Sandy and the bottoms of the basement walls were chopped leaving them open and the studs visible. If there are holes in the exterior brick would it be possible for a small animal to gain access to the basement that way? Would the top of the walls be closed off though from floor to floor of the house? What I'm asking I guess, if it's possible from a small animal to climb up through an open basement wall to the second floor of the house. Thanks much for any help.

Sure they could. There are likely penetrations for pipes and electrical wires and the little buggers can chew holes pretty easily.
