Which sewing machine should I repair

I have a Singer touch and sew 740 and a Brother 761. Which should I keep and put money I to?

I don't know anything about that Brother model, but unless you can fix it yourself, I wouldn't put out a lot of money for the Singer. The last Touch and Sew's to have all metal parts and gears would be the early 600 models and some of the 626 models (some 626's had metal gears and some had plastic). All the models after that were all plastic, so not worth fixing, unless it's not too much.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering how old these 2 machines were. I speculated that they were both made in the 70's. Would that be right?
And I think I will hang on to the brother. As you have noted, the Singer does have plastic gears.

The Singer would be from the 70's. The earliest Touch and Sews were from the 60's.
