Sump pump causing erosion

ChauderNovember 2, 2013

Hi everyone
I have a 2 year old house and the lot has quite a bit of clay in it. Due to this it seems to hold up a lot of water which makes it's way to the sump causing frequent pump outs in the spring. The problem is that the discharge line is near an electrical junction box on the corner of my lot and the large volume of water caused erosion over the course of the spring. This summer I had some landscaping done in that area and put some large gravel around the sump discharge. I'm just wondering if that should take care of the issue or if there are any other ideas out there.

Can you extend the discharge line to an area where erosion won't be as problematic? i.e. storm drain?
