Roof or Window Leaks

squirrelheavenNovember 12, 2008

I have been thinking about doing built-in bookcases for some time. Last night, I am looking up at a ceiling leak and realizing I would not have been aware of it if there were built-ins to the ceiling there, as planned. Years ago, I also had a contractor recommend not putting wood paneling around one of my windows, as leaks go undetected when that's done.

These are the types of finishing details I love in a home. Any experience with these types of problems? What are your thoughts on this?

If you build it right there is no reason to have to consider potential leak detection in the design. Find a contractor with more confidence in his work.
