How soon is it normal for poured concrete to crack?

growingadviceNovember 12, 2011

Just happen to notice two crack on the garage floor. It's poured concrete is about 1 yr old. together they're probably 6ft. They are hairline in nature, but I was kinda surprised to find some this soon!

there is also the fact that for various reasons, no vehicles have been in there yet!

Is cracking at this early stage normal?

thank you.

Hairline Cracks could be normal and of little concern and yes they can occur within a year. They could just be surface cracks from uneven curing or worse, incorrect soil prep before pouring. Keep an eye on it. There are methods for solving major problems if it comes to that.
