Wedding dress help please?

Has anyone ever used button loop tape and buttons instead of back zipper?

I guess basically the tape goes on one side and buttons on other but any ideas how I could sew some kind of privacy flap under the seam? I mean if the loops are elastic I could see that the opening may separate and gap a little in places now and then while dancing or something.

Or...if I put in the zipper, is there a way I could cover it with a flap of fake buttons? Maybe with lace on each side of the flap?

I just really like buttons on the back of gowns, but not sure how to do it nicely.

Thanks for any advice or ideas.

When you sew the loop side on, take a piece of fabric doubled to the size you want and sew it on with the loop tape. That will be on the inside and provide a tab. You can read articles about this by googling it. Here is one.

I haven't used it, but I have worked in bridal shops. I can tell you that many dresses have zippers up the back, and non-functional buttons sewn to the overlap. Sometimes they are sewn all the way down the train, as well.
