Bi-fold Door Question

kelkoAugust 16, 2013

I replaced my carpet with harwood flooring and now my bi-fold doors are about 1/4" too long. I would like to trim the bottom of the doors but I need a way to remove the "pin" thing that slips into the bracket on the floor and keeps the doors in place. They were hammered in and are quite tight. Is there a trick to removing them. I can't seem to pull them out and I surely don't want to buy new doors. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Using a pair of dykes (side-cutters) squeeze the jaws between the washer and the door and using the shape of the jaws as a lever, pry the pin out.

Put a pair of visegrips on the pin, and lever it out with the short end of a pry bar placed under the nose of the visegrips..

Thanks, everyone, for replying. I was able to get them out...lots of pulling and wiggling...and they finally came out. Appreciate all of you taking the time to reply.
