Satin Blanket Binding

TLM65January 3, 2014

I have inherited some unfinished sewing projects and am eager to complete them. Some are baby blanket panels that just need some satin blanket binding attached. My question is which is easier/ better to use, the single fold or the double fold? And why is a particular type your preference? Any help anyone can offer is greatly appreciated, And thank you in advance for your assistance.

Single fold bias is for projects that will not be seeing a lot of use, such as a wallhanging. It takes less fabric to make, and is easier to handle under the needle since itâÂÂs only one layer of fabric.

Double fold bias binding is for items that will be washed or worn often. ItâÂÂs stronger because itâÂÂs a double layer of fabric. For a baby blanket probably the double fold would be your best bet.
