Hanging pictures on stucco wall?

echobellyJune 16, 2014

Not sure if this is the right forum, but I figured someone here would know. I just bought a house with a nice screen porch overlooking a courtyard. The walls are a sand finished stucco over block. I want to hang some framed pictures and maybe some plates on the wall to dress it up a bit. All I really need are small brads for most (I'll use Tapcon screws for anything heavy). I don't want to have to drill big holes (and get concrete dust everywhere). Is there some way to get a small finish type nail into a concrete wall? I thought of using the self-stick picture hangers but am concerned they won't make good contact with the rough wall, and in the heat of southern Florida, the adhesive might fail.

I vote for using a small drill bit. If you can manage a drill in one hand and a vacuum hose in the other, you can minimize any dust while drilling.
