aqua lift self clean-not self clean

suzy770April 8, 2013

I just bought a Maytag True Convection Gas Range and it was "advertised" as "Aqua Lift Self Clean". To me, a layman, that meant it is a self clean oven with a system called Aqua Lift. Well, my first major spill was a leak in a tin pan that baked into the bottom but also splashed to the sides. The glass on the door was easy to clean and I tried using this "special" system, but it only cleaned the bottom of the oven (not so well, I might add) and did not clean, at all, the sides or around the edges of the bottom and door.
I am amazed that Maytag is allowed to claim this is self cleaning when it is nothing of the sort.
Has anyone else had this happen to them?
