Drywall over concrete block

bobismyuncleMay 15, 2010

How would you apply drywall over concrete block interior walls that have rounded corners on the doorways? My thought was to use furring strips all over and one-bys to block out the corners square. Any better approaches?

Hi, I would use adhesive about a Quart to a panel.Use a couple pieces of 3/8 door stop to keep the panel off the floor untill the adhesive dries. The corner would not be a problem do them as any other frame job.

Why not use bullnosed corners?

Here is a link that might be useful: Bullnose caps

You are going to love installing the required wall receptacles.

Every one will require cutting into the block to get enough depth for the electrical boxes.

Never apply drywall directly to concrete! Fur it out with 2x4s and insulate. That way you'll have both the necessary insulation and room to run the electrical both. Then use the rounded corners for the corners.

Do building codes have any consideration in this decision? Are you ever going to sell this place?
