PSP vs PhotoShop

kyryOctober 29, 2005

Could anyone tell me what a mere mortal( non-pro) could do with PhotoShop that cannot be done with PSP? My hubby has been wanting to buy me this very expensive program for over a year, I'm just not sure I want to deal with learning a brand new program. Although I have seen PhotoShop CS 8.0 and many of the tools seem to be the same as PSP. Any help in comparing?

Carol,
Maybe if you poked around here, it would give you an idea of what it can do.

Carol, there are two differences, the first one being the big difference in price. Most professionals use PS. PhotoShop has some filters and tools and some other things that are only important if you are a Pro.

So far, I have been able to change (read that, fake) most of the PS tutorials (that I have tried), and make them work in PSP, by substituting a filter or a Blend Mode etc.

The following link may help you make a decision.

Thank you Joy & Urlee for the links, here I am not being sure if I want to jump to PSPX and he thinks I would enjoy a whole new, complicated program.
