storm door

japusMay 8, 2013

Our storm door closing hasn't been right since being replaced many years ago.
Been so long ago I can't remember how the doors worked before.
1st the door never opens at a right angle (90deg) to the house.
always less.
2nd, regardless of the adjustment it always slams 2/3rds shut before the adjustable action takes over.
screw adjust counter clock wise will slam shut..
screw adjust clockwise still slams shut 2/3rds then catches and slows down.
No adjustment in between helps.
I've seen doors out there that operate smoothly, I am looking for a door closer that will open and not hit me in the rear before I get inside the house.
The people at our local home stores cannot help.
I have even purchased new door openers, same action all over.
Any ideas???

Your closer is installed wrong.
Door closers have "design" weights for the doors they are used to operate.
You need to find someone, other than the "jack-leg-laborer," on the corner to replace your closer.
