How Does One Repair Sagging Rafters?

candlerMay 24, 2006

I bought a lot and doublewide MH as an investment. I plan to repair and resell. There's a fairly new roof but it was put on although areas of the roof were severely sagging. The unit does not have cathedrel (sp?) ceilings and no accessible attic. It appears the only way to repair the sags is to remove the new shingles, tar paper, and sheathing. I was hoping there might be an easier way. Ideas? Thanks, Gene

you're talking about a mobile home and not a trditionally framed house correct? I'm assuming the roof is a "A" style with a center ridge and sloped sides. I'm not familiar with MH construction, but could the sag be from spread at the ceiling line? If you connected the sides with a wire rope and turnbuckle, could you bring the ridge back up by pulling the top of the walls in?

Just a thought.
