Moved My Stuff For Less

lucky_12March 29, 2008

When I need to have furniture or appliances moved I usually rent a truck and pay someone to help. But recently, I looked on line for a mover and found this nationwide web site where movers bid on the moving job you have. I was skeptical but took the plunge. In less than 24 hours, I accepted a moverÂs bid and my stuff was moved for less than what it would have cost me to do it myself.

A link to the website might be nice for the rest of us.

Here is the link.

Here is how it works, Lucky 12.

When you go to the dialogue box where you can post a message, under that box is a small one called, 'Optional link URL' where you can write the name of the website. When I tried to do it beginning with "www", my post was rejected until I began with the "http" part.

Under that box is another, 'Name of the Link' where you can describe it.

I've moved 4 times in 6 years. The last move involved consolidating 2 homes (1 3k sf and 1 1800 sf) into one, so it was really 2 moves. It ended up being our cheapest move because we hired movers who only charge by the hour. I boxed up everything I could, staged it neatly in the garage, and the complete move only took a few hours. Putting boxes on a dolly and rolling it to the truck was a snap, so the only real "time" suck was the heavy furniture. All told it was barely over $1k.

Very helpful, Lucky 12. I'm clearing out an estate and DD wants some things (including a lawn tractor) but she lives out of state. Sending her the link. Just might be the way to go. Thanks, Sandy
