Please help! Step lighting for indoor concrete steps

lindabiddleNovember 17, 2012

I have searched all over for assistance and I hope someone can help me quickly because the contractor will be here bright and early Monday morning. We are in the middle of a remodel. I'm trying to take into account that we're getting older and need better lighting. We have a 2 step concrete set of stairs leading into the living area of our home from entry. I told the electrician and GC that we wanted to install LED lights on the steps because we have had people miss the steps in the past and tripped on them. The steps are concrete and had saltillo tile on them which we are replacing with travertine. Both the GC and the electrician said "no problem" but now the GC says he isn't sure how to go about this without sacrificing the integrity of the concrete or stone. Does anyone have an idea how this can be done? Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thanks, Linda

Haifele makes ribbon strip LED that can adhere to the underside of the stair nosing. It's super simple to install and perfect for this application.
