Faucet sticking after oiling

Blake1984April 26, 2013

So the other day I noticed a squeak in my kitchen sink faucet handle. I sprayed some wd-40 inside the handle and ever since it has been extremely hard to turn like it is sticking. Anyone have any insight on this? Im worried that I may have ruined it.

WD-40 is a solvent based lubricant.

You may have damaged the washers with the solvent.

Take it apart and see what's going on in there.

WD-40 dissolves grease, it is NOT a lubricant despite popular opinionn. Use it to clean bike chains before re lubricatinf them.
Get some synthetic grease in there- silicone or teflon based. Do not use "Lubriplate" which attacks rubber gaskets.
Check with the mfg for reccomendations.
