best granite sealer

tauevaSeptember 18, 2010

I recently installed Copper Canyon Granite around my bathroom sink. As it turns out, this granite is quite porous. My installer gave it 2 coats of Miracle 511 Impregnator but it still fails the 5 minute water test. Should I ask him to add another coat?

The company that sold me the granite suggested I contact the local Tekon business. Their salesman recommended they apply one of their NanoTek products. However, I couldn't find a single review of this online.

Does anyone have experience with this company?

What's the best thing for me to do now?

I've used StoneTech for years. You could give them a call and ask how to proceed.

I've been selling or fabricating stone for 12 years. We torture tested dozens of brands of sealer side by side. There's only one that has exceeded all our expectations, and that's the lifetime sealer from Surface Treatment Technologies. My own mother purchased a stone that's known for staining if it's not cleaned up every night. Prior to STT we would recommend 6 coats of sealer on this nightmare product (and know that wasn't even enough). The STT sealing system involves two types of product (one sinks in deep, and the other only for top 2 millimeters). Mom's c-top has been in for over a year, and is behaving just like the torture tested samples from years ago. GREAT PRODUCT !

Make sure your granite actually needs a sealer before putting anything on the stone.

So is this the sealer you are using to offer a 20 year warranty?
