Skim walls first or electric/lighting change first?

HouseRemodSeptember 12, 2013

I'm going to have the walls/ceiling of my condo skimmed to make them flat. Should I do this before or after I have some electrical changes, move outlet's and have some lights put in? Anyone have any ideas?

What do you think? Think the work through. It will help you in your other projects.

What's involved in making electrical changes? Moving outlets? That leaves a hole where the old outlet was, and cutting a hole where the new outlets will go. Maybe even holes to run the wire from A to B. Lights put in? That can involve holes in the wall to snake wire to the new location.

Would you want the wall repair/skim coat to occur before the electrical changes are made that will have some wall damage, or after the electrical is complete?
