Iron doors

Nina123July 19, 2014

I am building a home in NJ and considering using double iron front entrance doors. I was wondering if anyone has experience with iron doors in this area and could recommend a good company. Also, I was concerned about possible condensation and rust issues. Any experience with this?

Iron doors? You mean iron bars? Are you in the ghetto?

lol!.. apparently you are not familiar with wrought iron doors!!.. they are actually very expensive and you likely wouldn't find them in the ghetto. Check out a website like to see what I mean.

Do you mean doors with an iron insert? Or a solid iron door?

I mean a solid wrought iron door ... It would have a glass insert and decorative iron grills on it. Examples are at But I have no experience with the company.

A residential iron door is not solid iron. It is, more accurately, a steel-clad door. That is, usually a polyurethane core clad in up to 14 gauge steel (1.897 mm thick). Of course, there are security doors and jailhouse doors and Hell's Angels' clubhouses that have a lot more steel. But that's probably not what we're discussing.
