Finding new contemporary entry door that doesn't cost a fortune

jpherronMay 12, 2012

My remodel includes replacing our existing front door, which is a double 36"x96" unit. We can actually replace just the slab and leave the frame in place. Does anyone know where I can find doors like the one linked below, preferably in fiberglass, that won't break the bank? We're hoping to stay in the $1-2k price range for the slabs.

Here is a link that might be useful: contemporary doors

I just installed a front door like that. I used a Marvin french door with 5 divided lights, frosted glass. Too expensive for what it is, in my opinion. Simpson door has models that look like it for a lot less.

When we replaced the 84" solid wood slab door with an 80", we found a fiberglass slab door at our local building supply place. They showed us the catalog of glass inserts, and we chose a sidelight to get this retro effect.

The door cost under $400.

A double 3-0 X 8-0? That's a BIG door. Consider a double with a transom as an alt., but not very contemporary.
