Stair brackets

Hi All,

My first time remodeling anything..It's been a journey indeed!!! Right now, I'm trying to get carpet installed on the stairs, but because it's an open stringer staircase, the carpet needs to be folded over the side of the stairs (this is what I was told).

I do not like this look, so my idea is to install stair brackets on the side so that the carpet is installed up to the stair bracket (examples of stair brackets: http://www.architecturaldepot.com/stair-brackets.html).

I'm just curious if anyone has done something similar, and if this idea can work with pre-fab stair brackets? I understand pre-fab stair brackets are used for decorative purposesly mainly, so not sure if it is robust enough to be used in this way.

Ideas? Suggestions?
