Ceramic Tile Hearth on Fireplace - New Porcelain Floors

milesbellaFebruary 28, 2014

We currently have a gas fireplace with ceramic tile on the face and on the hearth (level with the floor). This is not our fireplace but it has a similar design (picture below).

We are getting the wood-look porcelain plank flooring installed. Should we cover the existing ceramic tile on the floor and have full cover wood-look porcelain over everything? Or should we still leave the ceramic tile hearth to separate the space?

Personally, I would remove it, but if you want some type of hearth consider a solid slab that sits within the two vertical columns. Check the pics below for visuals.
Also, post on the Home Decor forum for more input.
