Hand quilting needle

fincheloverJuly 29, 2011

what type and size of needle do use for handquilting[tying] a quilt. I can't seem to find a proper needle so it is easy to thread. I either use crochet thread or ..sorry forgot the other. It seems the eye isn't large enough for me to get the thread thru, suggestions please.

If you are going to tie the quilt instead of quilting it, then I think a darning needle would work. The eye should be large enough to handle light yarn or a very heavy thread.

I liked to use the curved needles when I tied a quilt.

I have to use the bigger quilting needles, can't get the smaller ones threaded. I have used the bigger utility needles for tying. Don't know what they are called, they come in those variety packs of all types of needles.
