cooktop placement in 30" counter

flazoomApril 12, 2013

We are starting the design phase of our kitchen remodel and I want to put in 30 inch deep counters where the cook top (36" induction) will be installed. We are moving the cooking surface to be able to add a vented hood. My concern is that most wall hoods I have seen extend 20-24 inches from the wall and if I place the cook top so it is under the hood, it will be sitting about 6 inches back from the counter edge, not optimal for cooking I suspect. Does anyone know of any wall hoods that extend out more than 24 inches or is there another option I am missing?

Pull the hood forward and add a custom stainless piece at the back to cover the blocking.
