RECIPE: Incredibly simple but tasty pork chops

markoweMarch 13, 2007

Just had to post this, it is SO simple, yet proved so much of an improvement on the plain old pork chops I had in the freezer, that my wife asked me to do them again after a week or so :)

Ingredients:

pork chops

spices (pepper, ground paprika, salt)

onions

glass of red wine

What to do:

Cover pork chops in spices. Fry until lightly browned. Place in oven dish. Add sliced onions, pour wine over (and I put some bay leaves in there). Bake covered in oven until, well... ready.

That is IT, no messing around with measurements and this is so tasty compared to just plain old frying.

I wrote a jokey blog entry about it called "Pork chops saved by Fridge-Googling" as the recipe was adapted from one on another cooking site which came up through "fridge-Googling". Enjoy!

That does look simple enough. I have some frozen red wine cubes in the freezer so I just might try this. Thanks for posting.

I will NEVER have frozen wine in my freezer, LOL, but I would be happy to open a bottle to try this and drink the rest! Actually, we've done something very but always used white wine. I never thought of red wine with pork - thanks.

I have to say, this was really terrible red wine from a Tetrapak, so it wouldn't harm it to freeze it!

You miss the point, Markowe. That's our Woodie; no wine would make it as far as the freezer. ;>)

GL, you certainly know me well! I think I need to go to St. Thomas on my next vacation to defrost Ginger's freezer!

It's frost-free but you're more than welcome anyway, Woodie!

Sounds yummy!

I'm with woodie though - need to open a new bottle every time I cook with wine. LOL! Someone actually game me something called a "Wine Saver" for Xmas a couple of years ago - I didn't know what to do with it since we never have any to save! I finally gave it to goodwill..... LOLOLOLOL!

Ha, yes, why would you SAVE wine, for goodness' sakes!?

Unless it was one of those bottles they fished up from the Titanic or something..!
