recipe: iso:sweet tasting hot dog meat sauce......

I'm in search of a Sweet Tasting Hot Dog Meat Sauce. It was like regular hot dog meat sauce but sweet tasting. I don't remember if it was red or brownish. I've had it at a local bingo hall that is no longer doing bingo so I can't get the recipe. Any T&T recipe that is sweet would help it might put me on the right track. Thanks christine (internetnut)

This is one I really like. You could try adding some brown sugar to it to sweeten it up.

CHILI SIZE

1 lb. chuck steak, GROUND VERY FINE
1 medium onion, diced fine
1 clove garlic, minced fine
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
½ cup water
1 Tbs. wine vinegar
1 Tbs. chili powder
1 tsp. dry mustard
½ tsp. ground cuminseed
¼ tsp. ground coriander seeds
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. freshly ground pepper
½ bay leaf, crumbled fine
3 to 6 oz. tomato juice

In large skillet, cook beef, onion and garlic over medium heat until beef is browned. Add all other ingredients except tomato juice. Simmer over low heat at least one hour, periodically stirring and tasting. Adjust seasonings to taste. Add enough tomato juice to keep it sloppy. Tastes even better when refrigerated and reheated.

This is has been my favorite hot dog chili for several years now. You could make it sweeter by adding more sugar or substituting brown sugar for the regular sugar.

Hot Dog Chili from Aiken Pool Hall, Aiken, SC

1 lb. hamburger meat
4 med onions -- diced/chopped
4 Tbsp mustard -- yellow
3 tsp sugar
2 tsp vinegar -- apple cider
2 tsp chili powder
1 cup catsup
salt -- to season

Break up the hamburger meat and put into a 4-qt. pan. Add enough hot water
to make a thick mix. Stir until smooth.

Add the remaining ingredients. Cook slowly for 1 hour. Can be thinned as
needed with water or beer.

Here's my Coney Island Hot Dog recipe, which I have served in my 2 restaurants as did my mom in hers, for many years:
1 lb ground beef coked & drained
1 12 0z V-8 juice (Spicy Hot)
1 small tomato paste
1 paste can of water
2 Tbs brown sugar
2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp cinnamom
1 tsp garlic powder
1-2 tsp pepper
1 tsp salt
2 tsp parsley
Mix well, then add 3 TBS of CRACKER MEAL.
Cook for 10 minutes then add 3Tbs of FRESH grated green pepper.

In a small bowl, combine:
1 large onion-diced fine
3 Tbs sugar
3 Tbs wet mustard.

Place the Tex sauce over your hot dog, then spoon the mustard onions over the sauce.

Teresa, thanks - that sounds exactly like a recipe I have been looking for. A restaurant here makes some that is cooked in water and I believe that is it, or very close. They are famous for theirs also.
