Fun with EQ7

petalpatsyMay 20, 2013

I'm playing with my EQ7, and it's so fun I may just color quilts forever and stop actually making them. I'm committed to the Christmas quilt because I ordered a terribly expensive bright green wide-cloth backing from fat quarter shop.

I'm having a harder time deciding on the edge treatment for the springtime version. I like them both, the pointed edge look for a change of pace, and I could handle the binding miters, but I think it would be annoying to pull it up under your chin at night. Do people who do this kind of quilt put one edge on that is straight for the top of the bed?

Very neat, Patsy! I love playing with EQ.

I could see where an uneven edge might be annoying in bed. :) Having that edge straight sounds like a good idea. I like both edges but think the shaped one is much more interesting.

Putting the spring one together looks like a real brain teaser! Does the quilt program give cutting and assembly information too?

It will print out templates for you, automatically adding a 1/4" seam allowance, but I was planning making the nine-patches as squares on my machine (!) with strips, and then cutting them down with a round template.

What fun. I used to have EQ5 and loved playing with it but then I got a Mac book and it's not compatible so I gave it away.
