How difficult is it to replace skimmer boxes?

We have a brick patio. The skimmers (2) are old and ugly. My husband, who is very handy and does a lot of things around the house is wondering if it's something you can do yourself.

I don't recommend it. Old isn't bad. If they are just dingy, a Magic Eraser might clean them up nicely, but this depends on what the cause of the discoloring cause is.

About as easy as repairing a leak under your foundation. I would elave that to the pros and only if the pool is leaking at that skimmer.

Update: The skimmers are rusting. When we had our liner replaced about three/four years ago, the installer painted them (they were originally black but didn't match the new liner). They are white now. We will replace the outside frame but want to clean up the insides. Do you know of any paint we can use?
