alternatives to pebble tec

lbphathead19September 4, 2012

Wondering what the pros and cons of pebble tec plaster is. I know they have a good warranty and they are more costly than the other brands. What does everyone else use? My wife is looking for a grayish color. Any info would be appreciated.

Thank you

While I can't claim to know a lot about pools (it's almost always too cold to swim in MI) I can tell you that I've heard nothing but good reviews about pebble tec.

Pros: Great look, most installers will do ongoing maintenance, plaster is very strong, does very well with exposure

Cons: Cost--More expensive than a pebblefina option, less attractive finish IMO than pebble sheen

Alternative companies off the top of my head would be Hydrazzo, Marbletite, River Rok etc.

Good luck and here's a pic of a pool with French Grey by Hydrazzo. Note that whatever gray you use will be most apparent on the steps.

Thanks for the info, is this your pool. How is the quality of the Hydrazzo? Do they have a number of colors?

Is Hydrazzo sililar to DiamondBrite in that it is a quarts aggregate and not stones/pebbles?

I have stonescapes, and love it. Have not had any issues with it. No complaints from my kids about it hurting their feet. Tahoe Blue.

Anyone have experience using PebbleSheen? It is being recommended to us and we are looking to sign next week. Thanks.
