Time of day to run pump

luvh20August 3, 2011

I know running the pump during the evening hours should save some $$$ on electrical, but are there any negative

drawbacks to the pool water sitting stagnant during the heat of the day?

I use to run mine from morning to early afternoon, but know

changed it to 7p.m. to 2:30 a.m.

I haven't seen anything negative yet, but it's only been a week.

Any experts, or novices have any thoughts on this subject?

Thank You

luvh20,
Electricity suppliers usually suggest that you run the pool pumps during off-peak hours to lessen the stress on the grid. In CA. I used to run my pump for a few hours when the pool was most likely to be used and then again during the off-peak hours of early morning.

There is no substitute for good filtration to keep a pool looking good.
