Leave pool uncovered during winter?

njnspoolAugust 30, 2013

I am wondering if anyone has any input on the idea of not covering my pool when I winterize it this year.

I live in NJ. I get leaves, but not a ton of them.

My reason is I have an entire rock wall back and waterfalls, and it is really difficult to get a safety cover, so last year we used a tarp which looked like crap for 8 months out of the year.

If anyone has any feedback on this, I would appreciate it.

If it is Gunite many folks in New England do not cover theirs. I know someone that has kids that Ice Skate on it in the winter.
