As some of you know... I have a 'couple' of sewing machines, but here is a sweetheart I found last weekend. The decals are all in perfect condition and she runs like a dream. No electricity, she has a hand crank. I'm happy! :)
Kitty seems to approve .
That's a beauty. Congratulations. Do we send baby gifts for this event?
Oh, what a lovely one she is. I may have to get me a hand crank.
A lot of art went into the old ones.
It's beautiful but how does one sew with one hand cranking? I need both my hands on my fabric. Or, is it like the old Victrolas that were cranked, ran down and had to be recranked? Wow, hadn't thought of them in years and years. :-) Then there was the old Oldsmobile dad had that was hand cranked to get started....or we would push it down the hill to start it.
Sorry to have wandered off there......
Gorgeous machine! (And a handsome cat too)
That's My Kinda Baby! Beautiful! What year is she? She is so shiny and gorgeous - Congratulations!
Nice machine, Wendy!
Sharon, I've always wondered that too! Someone enlighten us, please??
I haven't been able to date her yet, the serial number would indicate 1868 but I know that's wrong. She doesn't have the old shuttle bobbin so the number I'm seeing must not be the serial number. Anyway, I too always wondered about the crank, and now I know :) It does not 'load up' like a gramophone, you get what you turn as you turn. But it is soooo smooth and it was amazingly easy to guide the fabric with one hand. The little feed dogs just pulled it along like nobody's business. I kept feeling around with my foot tho. :) And for a moment I was surprised there was no light... duh. I'm happy ^_^
Just beautiful! How did you find her?
I could have use that beauty today...ice storm took out the electric along with many trees...had to stay home from work and couldn't sew!
I adopted her off Kijiji, which is our 'Craig's List' equivalent. $30 ^_^
Wow ...what a find!
Congrats on your great find, looks like a beautiful machine.
Best to you,
