another restaining question

jvmagicOctober 2, 2009

my deck needs to be treated again...bought the house 5 yrs ago and have not done this before. the deck floor looks to be a reddish color but it could have been some type of brown color that just faded. the railing etc...looks to be a brown color. my question is; can I just wash it accordingly and then stain it with the brown color of choice or will it look terrible when combining with the current faded color?

I may have some left over stain from the previous owner...hard to tell.

what is a good stain and sealer or two-in-one product. don't want a super expensive product but I don't want to redo in one year either.

What is my best option.

step-by-step please.

thanks in advance
