Information Overload?

Just a quick question on the decking screws. We're building a deck using Jatoba, 1x6. The contractor wants to use Trim head screws and not plug. He said the hole would be the size of this mark "0" I find that anything that small would have a hard time holding down a board. Can someone tell me what type of screws should be used with this wood, and is there different diameters for the plugs?

I use #7 ss square drive trim head screws to fasten South American decking for 1x6'' 1 5/8'' long with a countersink and predrill into the decking not the pt frame.

If you decide to plug and screw use tapered plugs and a froster bit. Good place to get pre made plugs > East Teak 800 338 5636
