decorative Concrete porch floor over concrete?

DruidClarkJuly 6, 2009

We poured our porch a couple of years ago, thinking that we'd put in slate or something similar. Now DH thinks we didn't allow enough space (height) for the mortar and that (1) pieces will be too loose or (2) they'll be too thin and prone to cracking in the winter.

So I came up w/ the idea of pouring another concrete/epoxy floor and putting leaves, etc. in it and etching it.

Anyone ever tried this and have you had any luck?

Yes you can do a 1/4" overlay on top of your existing porch. You have to prep the original concrete and apply a bonder then the overlay material. Be sure to follow mixing and water instructions carefully to end up with good results. You can texture or color it any way you want. Hope this helps
